The Place of Interpersonal Lexemes in Linguistic Theory, with Special Reference to Functional Discourse Grammar

The paper presents a critical assessment of the place reserved for lexical expressions with discourse-related meanings in four major functional theories language, also considering few narrower-scope accounts linguistically encoded pragmatic meaning. I argue that status lexemes is not duly recognized most functionally-oriented frameworks and make point that, by contrast, Functional Discourse Grammar finds itself an optimal position to offer adequate account this specific type linguistic expressions.
